It all started with the idea of turning a 0.5mm steel sheet into a spectacle with a sporty aesthetic that adapts to the rhythm of a great modern city like Barcelona, Tokyo, New York, Berlin ... The challenge was to design a frame that could be wear all night and adapt to daylight. A different approach than usual, glasses for the night that are functional during the day. This is when we think about using the classic photochromic lens to try to provide a different approach. We searched and tested new suppliers until we found a next generation lenses that darkens in a more solid and fast way.

Normally, the lens contains a substance - silver or copper chloride - that reacts to ultraviolet rays emitted by the sun and causes the photochromic lens to darken, trapping more or less light depending on what is in it. the environment. The first premise for photochromic lenses to work is that you must be outdoors, since the vast majority only react to ultraviolet light. In other words, they do not work with artificial light or if sunlight is filtered by any glass with ultraviolet protection.

The main concept was to design glasses for the night, to accompany the rhythm of life in a big city, so its sporty design is also inspired by the streetwear fashion trends that are seen at night. The lenses at night become transparent, that's why we looked for solutions in other sectors to look for colors and materials that would make it stand out. Our solution was a white ink that illuminates in the absence of light. Specifically, the “Swiss Super-LumiNova” pigments. A paint that can be charged with natural or artificial light and that is shown in fluorescent blue, illuminating in the dark with a performance of up to 60% after two hours.

With all these elements, the glasses have 3 different states, changing according to the light conditions of their environment. A perfect futuristic fashion accessory for people who live and enjoy the night intensely until morning.
